KISHORE VAIGYANIK PROTSAHAN YOJANA (KVPY) FELLOWSHIP AWARD - 2014
INTRODUCTION
The Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, offers attractive fellowships (5000- to 7000/- p.m.) and contingency grant (equivalent to four months fellowships per annum) to students studying in 1year of undergraduate program in Basic Science course such as B.Sc/B.S./B. Shit. B.Mat h./I nt. M.Sc/M.S. Selection to the program takes into account academic excellence and demonstration of skill to take up research career in Basic Sciences. COURSE AND ELIGIBILITY
ELIGIBILITY
Stream SA: Students enrolled in the XI Standard (Science subjects) during the academic year 2014-15 and have secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination. The fellowship of the students selected under this stream will be activated only if they join an undergraduate course in Basic Sciences (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc/M.S.) in the Academic year 2016-17 after having secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in Science subjects in the XII Standard/(+2) Board Examination. During the interim period of one year they will be invited for Regional/National Science (Vijyoshi) Camp and their travel and other related expenses will be met by KVPY.
Stream SX : Students enrolled in XII Standard/(+2) (Science subjects) during the academic year 2014-15 and aspiring to join undergraduate program in Basic Sciences (B.Sc/B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc/M.S.) during the Academic year 2015-16 provided they have secured a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST &PVVD) marks in aggregate in MATHEMATICS and SCIENCE subjects in the X Standard Board Examination and a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII standard /(?. 2) Board Examination.
Stream SB : Students enrolled in the 1 year of B.Sc/B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc/M.S. during the academic year 2014-15 and have secured a minimum of 60% (50% for SC/ST & PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects in the XII Standard / (+2) Board Examination and 1" year of B.Sc/B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Int. M.Sc/M.S.
Empowerment initiative in the KVPY fellowship Program:
I) For students belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe:- A certain number of fellowships exclusively for the meritorious SC/ST students under the various streams will be operated.
II) Empowerment initiative for Persons with Disabilities:- A certain number of fellowships under various streams will be operated for deserving Persons with Disabilities - Physically and Visually challenged students.
CAREER PROSPECTS
1. GENERAL INFORMATION:
* Students holding PIO, OCI card and students intending to pursue/pursuing undergraduate program under distance education scheme are not eligible.
* Each Stream has its own application form.
* Students may apply either Online or by hard copy. (http://www.kvpy.org.in).
* Application forms can be downloaded from the KVPY Website. Those who are unable to do so, can request for a Hard copy of the application form enclosing therewith the paid Bank Challan/Pay-in-slip(available at http://www.kvpy.org.in) clearly indicating the stream (i.e. SA/SX/SB) on the envelope.
2. APPLICATION FEE: 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred only) Application fee is exempted for the following:
a) Students belonging to SC/ST.
b) Persons with Disabilities - Physically and Visually challenged Students.
3. A Computer based online version of the Aptitude Test will be conducted in some selected cities. Hard copy based Aptitude Test will also be available in various cities.

a. For the online application please follow instructions and submit all documents through the web.
b. For Hard Copy application the completed application form alongwith the following documents has to be reached / submitted to the KVPY Office on or before 08" September 2014.
i) Caste certificate issued and duly signed by the competent authority (GOI) in the prescribed proforma in the case of students belonging to SC/ST. ii) Medical certificate from the competent authority (GOI) in case of physically and visually challenged students certifying the percentage of disability, iii) Copy of the marks statement of the qualifying examination(s). iv) Original pay-in-slip of ? 500/-as applicable. KVPY will not be responsible for postal delays in receiving the completed application form.
